26.11.2021
17 covered cars with cathode copper were sent from Balkhash station to Shanxi province, Xi’an (PRC). Its weight is over 1300 tons.

The shipment was carried out on the principle of combined transportation, informs Railway Supply magazine with reference to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
First, the copper passed to Altynkol station in covered wagons, then at the terminal of KTZE-Khorgos Gateway LLC it was transshipped into containers. The container train was formed in a short time: during the day. The speed of reloading on one covered car was a record 1 hour 10 minutes.
“In the conditions of limited reception of trains by the Chinese side due to the introduced anti-covid measures, combined transportation reduces the turnover of universal rolling stock, as well as simplifies the reception of goods in containers on the Chinese side,” said Deputy General Director for Logistics KTZ Express Aibek Kapar.
