The Demolition of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station (GES) Will Lead to Flooding of Elevators

The branch of the company “Nibulon” called “Kozatska” has been affected as a result of the demolition of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station (GES), according to the railway journal Railway Supply, citing CTS.

Last night, Russian occupiers detonated the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, located upstream from Kherson along the Dnipro River. Based on the footage that has already emerged online, the dam has sustained critical damage and is no longer capable of retaining the water flow. As clearly seen in the video, an uncontrolled release of water from the Kakhovka Reservoir has begun, posing a serious threat of flooding downstream along the Dnipro River.

Furthermore, the demolition of the Kakhovka GES may cause damage to the following elevators: “Mykilske HPP” – with a capacity of 12,000 tons of simultaneous storage, a port elevator; “Tyahynske HPP” – with a capacity of 23,000 tons of simultaneous storage, a port elevator; “Dnipryanske HPP” – with a capacity of 16,000 tons of simultaneous storage, a port elevator; “AVE” (Lviv HPP) – with a capacity of 17,000 tons of simultaneous storage, a linear elevator.

These elevators are located in populated areas that are within the flood zone.
