07.03.2024
The state company 2TDK has finished building the bridge crossing in the Vinjan Valley, which has become the largest on the line, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
With a length of 620 meters and supports up to 55 meters high, the bridge connects tunnels T7 and T8.

Complex geological conditions, including foundations up to 40 meters deep, made the construction process challenging.
The project of the new railway line in Koper, complementing the main artery and providing access to the seaport, also includes eight tunnels and two bridge structures: a viaduct in the Glinščica Valley and a bridge in the Gabrovica Valley.
Its cost, reaching 1.109 billion euros, is financed from various sources, including funds from the European Investment Bank and the European Union.
The commissioning of the new line in 2026 will increase capacity from 90 trains per day to 230 and will also increase the volume of freight transport from 12 million to 43 million tons per year.
This project is important not only for Slovenia but also for the two Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) corridors: the Baltic-Adriatic and the Mediterranean.
