The second phase of the high-speed railway project between Thailand and China has been approved by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This phase includes the construction of a 357 km track between Nakhon Ratchasima and Nong Khai, estimated to cost 341.35 billion Thai baht.

The project entails building 202 km of elevated track and 155 km at ground level, as well as four intermediate stations and a new station complex in Nong Khai.

Upon completion, the railway is scheduled to open for train traffic in 2031.

This line is expected to be a key segment of the high-speed corridor between southern China and Singapore, using CR300AF high-speed trains from the Fuxing Hao family produced by CRRC.

The previous phase of the project, which involved the section from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, was signed with Chinese companies China Railway Group and China Railway Design Corporation.
