25.07.2025
Sydney Metro has shortlisted three consortia to design and build the Olympic Park station, its integrated precinct, and two adjacent buildings, moving this major urban development closer to reality. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The contenders include FCC Construction with Ecove Group, Gamuda Engineering with MTR Corporation (Australia), and John Holland in partnership with Freecity Group. Officials plan to award the contract by mid-2026.

The new Sydney Metro station will serve as a hub for Australia’s premier sports and entertainment district. This integrated precinct aims to deliver housing, retail, and vibrant public spaces that support a dynamic urban lifestyle.

When completed, the station will handle more than 10 million passengers annually. It will offer fast metro services, including a 15-minute trip to Hunter Street in Sydney CBD, ensuring easy connectivity across multiple modes.
Sydney Metro Boosts Accessibility and Connectivity
Travelers will enjoy seamless links to the Parramatta Light Rail, T7 Olympic Park Line, bus routes, and active transport networks. Platforms on both sides will improve passenger flow during major events, reducing crowd congestion.
Enhanced accessibility will also stimulate economic activity in the region. New retail and dining options will attract visitors, supporting Sydney Olympic Park’s night-time economy and creating opportunities for businesses and residents alike.
Sydney Metro Drives Growth and Jobs
The precinct development includes over 300 new dwellings, with plans for an additional 190 apartments above the station, reinforcing the state’s housing priorities.
Part of the $24 billion Sydney Metro West project, this line will add 24 kilometers of underground track between Parramatta and Sydney CBD. The project expects to create 10,000 direct and 70,000 indirect jobs before its 2032 opening.
