A new logistics hub — the Susie Container Terminal in China — has officially opened in Yiwu, one of the country’s major trade centers located in Zhejiang Province. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

On June 27, 2025, the terminal dispatched its first train carrying 100 containers to the port of Ningbo-Zhoushan, one of the world’s top container-handling ports.

Equipped with six state-of-the-art cranes, each 41.5 meters tall and capable of lifting loads up to 40.6 tons, the facility supports double-stacked container loading up to 27.5 meters high. This boosts processing efficiency and shortens turnaround times.

Susie Container Terminal in China Implements Smart Logistics Technologies

In its initial phase, the Susie Container Terminal in China has a projected handling capacity of 660,000 TEU per year. The project focuses on integrating digital solutions — including remote crane operation, automated container movement, and smart storage systems. Manual mode is also available, ensuring operational flexibility when needed.

This terminal serves as a pilot zone for testing innovative logistics technologies that can later be scaled across China’s national railway infrastructure. These trials are expected to support the broader modernization of the country’s freight logistics network.

Susie Container Terminal in China Enhances Export Infrastructure

By linking inland manufacturing zones to major seaports, the terminal strengthens China’s internal transport connectivity. It also streamlines export operations by providing port-level customs clearance procedures on-site, helping to reduce administrative burdens and accelerate cargo flow.

The Susie Container Terminal in China is a strategic infrastructure project designed to support smarter, faster, and more resilient logistics. Its success will likely influence the future development of similar facilities across the country.
