National operator ZSSK has signed a contract with Stadler to supply four six-car, double-deck Kiss electric trains by the end of 2023 for use on regional lines in western and central Slovakia.

This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to ZSSK.

Six-car electric trains with a speed of 160 km/h will have a length of 155 m with more than 600 seats in two classes, an entrance area without steps, four toilets, including one for passengers with disabilities. The multifunctional zones will have places for wheelchair users, bicycles, prams and luggage.

The trains will have air conditioning, a modern passenger information system, Wi-Fi and a video surveillance system, as well as cameras on the roof to monitor pantographs.

There will also be a system for measuring energy consumption and a system for “accurate” passenger counting.
