The deal is valued at a significant €405 million, indicating the seriousness of the Austrian railways’ intentions.
The new trains, based on the same platform as the successful Nightjet sleeper train, promise not only speed but also ergonomic design.
With a speed of up to 230 km/h, and improved interior layouts, passengers will enjoy comfortable travel conditions.
The power distribution system and innovative technologies ensure not only safety and reliability but also efficient interaction with external communication networks, crucial in the modern world.
The first of the new trains are expected to enter service as early as autumn 2028.
Railjet trains will be used on popular routes such as Vienna – Salzburg – Innsbruck – Feldkirch, allowing passengers to experience an enhanced level of service and comfort.
This significant expansion of the train fleet reflects OBB’s trust in the quality of Siemens Mobility’s products and the company’s strategic vision.
Austrian railways are betting on modern technology and innovation, a key factor in increasing the competitiveness and attractiveness of public transportation for passengers.
