Siemens Mobility to deliver Vectron hybrid locomotives and Charger diesel locomotives

Siemens Mobility has secured two strategically important contracts, further strengthening its position in the global rail market. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply
French leasing company Akiem has ordered 10 Vectron Dual Mode hybrid locomotives capable of operating on both electric overhead lines and diesel engines.
The agreement also includes an option for an additional 40 units. The first batch is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The Vectron hybrid locomotives meet growing demand for low-emission technology, providing operators with flexibility on partially electrified routes. Their adaptability and high efficiency make them especially relevant in the EU market, where environmental regulations are tightening.
Canadian contract boosts Siemens Mobility’s North American presence
At the same time, Siemens Mobility is expanding its operations in North America. Canadian rail operator Exo, which serves the Greater Montreal area, has placed an order for 10 Charger diesel locomotives. These units meet Tier 4 emission standards and offer excellent fuel efficiency. This marks the second Canadian order for the Charger model.
Exo expects the new locomotives to improve service reliability and passenger comfort. The contract highlights the trust placed in Siemens Mobility as a provider of modern and sustainable rail solutions.
