Siemens Mobility Completes Locomotive Deliveries for ÖBB and Northrail

Siemens Mobility has completed major locomotive deliveries for ÖBB and Northrail, successfully fulfilling framework contracts for the supply of Vectron MS and Smartron units. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The manufacturer handed over the final batch of Vectron MS locomotives to Austrian operator ÖBB. This completed a 2017 agreement that allowed for the delivery of up to 200 units.

Siemens Mobility fulfilled Northrail contract
In parallel, Siemens Mobility completed deliveries for German leasing company Northrail. Under agreements signed in 2018 and 2023, the client received 35 Smartron locomotives.
The total contract value reached €87.5 million. These electric units are intended for leasing to operators working across domestic and cross-border routes in Europe.
The Smartron model is known for its compact design and reduced operating costs, making it an attractive solution for logistics providers. Its standardized construction simplifies technical servicing.
Siemens Mobility strengthens position in Europe
The company continues to expand its presence in the European traction rolling stock market. Successful completion of contracts with ÖBB and Northrail reflects strong trust in the Siemens brand.
