The Siemens Vectron locomotive 193 969, owned by DB Systemtechnik, has embarked on its trial run on the southern section of the Novi Sad – Vrbas route, which is a key element of the modernized 108-kilometer corridor between Novi Sad, Subotica, and the Hungarian border at Kelebia, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Serbia is conducting trials of the Vectron locomotive

This project, undertaken in collaboration with Chinese companies China Railway International Co and China Communications Construction Co since November 2021, marks a significant step in the country’s infrastructure modernization efforts.

Container processing volumes at US ports have increased

The trials, which began on April 24, involve active participation not only from DB Systemtechnik but also from China Railway International Co and the operator Srbija Voz.

Successful completion of these trials will pave the way for commercial operations on this section with schedule changes expected by December 2024.

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has already announced that construction will be completed by September, and these trials are an important milestone towards achieving that goal.

The development of Serbia’s transportation infrastructure will not only enhance the country’s economic prospects but also make it more competitive in the international market.
