The main feature of these locomotives is their innovative XLoad traction system, which significantly enhances the efficiency of heavy train transportation in mountainous terrain.

Thanks to these locomotives, SBB Cargo International will be able to easily overcome challenging sections on cross-border routes through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy.

Moreover, all locomotives are equipped with the modern ETCS BL3 train control system, making them safe and reliable in operation. The maximum speed of these locomotives reaches 160 km/h.

It is worth noting that the expansion of SBB Cargo International’s fleet with new locomotives is part of the company’s long-term strategy to increase the efficiency and environmental sustainability of freight transportation.

As early as July 2024, the Swiss operator placed an order with the German company SudLeasing GmbH for an additional twenty Vectron locomotives, also equipped with the XLoad system.
