Queensland to Launch Over 100 New Weekly Train Services
08.05.2025
Queensland will roll out more than 100 new weekly train services this month to improve travel across three South East Queensland commuter rail lines. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Starting May 19, over 45 additional contra-peak services will begin operating each week on the Cleveland Line. These trips will serve passengers traveling away from Brisbane’s CBD in the morning and toward it in the afternoon.

Queensland will also add more than 40 new weekly contra-peak services on the Ferny Grove Line, increasing flexibility and reducing wait times for off-peak riders.
From June 1, trains on the Doomben Line will run every hour on Sundays and public holidays, offering weekend service for the first time. This upgrade will help residents better connect with the city and surrounding suburbs.
Commuters are encouraged to use Translink’s online journey planner to check updated schedules and new stop patterns across the affected lines.
Expanded Services Reinforce Queensland’s Public Transport Vision
Queensland’s Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Brent Mickelberg, said the changes reflect the government’s promise to deliver more frequent and affordable transit options.
Earlier this year, the government made 50-cent fares permanent, and these new services build on that commitment. “We want people spending less time commuting and more time living,” he noted.
Queensland Delivers on Accessibility and Connectivity Goals
Mickelberg emphasized that accessibility remains a top priority. “We’re removing barriers to public transport and making the system easier to use,” he said. “These improvements are just the beginning.”
This latest investment highlights Queensland’s focus on commuter needs and its strategy to strengthen regional transport infrastructure with practical, people-focused upgrades.
