Queensland Rail Launches Minecraft Game to Teach Rail Safety
18.07.2025
Queensland Rail has launched Track Stars!, a Minecraft-based game that helps students learn rail safety through interactive missions while reinforcing responsible behavior at level crossings across Queensland schools. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The game runs on the Minecraft Education platform and offers three engaging missions. It encourages students to make smart choices near trains and signals, aligning with the Year 3 and 4 curriculum but available to all teachers statewide.

Similar rail safety initiatives using Minecraft Education have already appeared in New South Wales and Victoria, and Queensland Rail now brings this innovative concept to its network to strengthen safety education among young learners.

Queensland Rail Highlights Safety Education Importance
Queensland Rail’s Community Education Team Leader, Dave Webber, stressed the urgent need for awareness. “Level crossings pose the greatest public safety risk, and one-third of crashes result in injuries or fatalities,” he said, emphasizing personal responsibility.
In 2024, the education team delivered more than 600 presentations to 70,000 students. But reaching every school remains difficult, so Queensland Rail created this game to extend its safety message to regional and remote communities.
Queensland Rail Brings Learning Through Play
The Track Stars! game empowers children to teach an in-game robot, Elliot, how to cross tracks safely. Through exploration and testing, students connect gameplay to real-life decisions, developing habits that protect themselves and others.
By blending digital entertainment with real-world lessons, Queensland Rail ensures that rail safety education becomes engaging, memorable, and accessible for today’s tech-savvy generation. This approach reinforces the company’s commitment to reducing accidents and promoting community safety.
