Queensland Rail is offering Wide Bay residents half-price Tilt Train tickets to make traveling to Brisbane’s Royal Queensland Show, the Ekka, easier and more affordable this August. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The event runs from August 9 to 17 at Brisbane Showgrounds, and discounted fares apply on selected services during these dates. A return trip from Bundaberg to Brisbane costs $89 for adults and $44.50 for children.

Passengers can also find reduced one-way fares and deals from Howard, Maryborough West, and Hervey Bay, including Railbus connections from Hervey Bay to Maryborough West for convenient boarding. Queensland Rail ensures smooth, cost-effective travel for families and groups.

Queensland Rail Adds Comfort and Easy Access for Ekka Visitors
The Tilt Train will stop at the upgraded Exhibition Station, giving passengers direct access to the showgrounds. This modern station offers improved accessibility with new lifts, a redesigned entry plaza, clear signage, and hearing aid loops.
Travelers benefit from air-conditioned comfort, onboard catering, and free Wi-Fi, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination. With these enhancements, Queensland Rail combines value with convenience for an unforgettable Ekka experience.
Queensland Rail Encourages Early Bookings for Limited Seats
Scott Cornish, Head of Regional, highlighted that Queensland Rail has connected communities for 160 years and continues this tradition by supporting events that celebrate Queensland. He encouraged passengers to book early because seats are limited.
“With half-price fares and premium service, this is one of the best ways to enjoy the Ekka without the stress of traffic or parking,” Cornish said. Customers can visit queenslandrailtravel.com.au for ticket details and reservations.
