Currently, work is underway on the first contract, which involves strengthening the foundation of the city cultural center, under which the new tunnel will pass. Completion of this work is scheduled for 2025.
The second contract involves the construction of assembly and disassembly chambers for the tunnel boring machine. The assembly chamber construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, while the disassembly chamber will begin after the first contract’s work is finished.

Trains from Warsaw will enter the tunnel at the Łódź-Fabryczna station and exit to the southwest at the Łódź-Kaliska station, in the Retkinia area.
Beyond the city of Sieradz, the line will branch off towards Wrocław and Poznań.
Tender proposals are expected to be reviewed by the end of September 2024.
The winner will be selected based on the proposed cost (70%) and qualifications (30%).
The contractor will be given 46 months to complete the work from the date of contract signing.
