This is the largest rolling stock tender in the history of the Polish carrier, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

H. Cegielski – Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych sp. z o.o., located in Poznań, will be responsible for producing 300 passenger carriages, priced at 4,238,580,000.00 zlotys (6,357,870,000.00 zlotys with an option).

The management of Ukrzaliznytsia has approved the procedure for providing wagons under long-term contracts

The tender will involve purchasing new carriages for middle-class trains.

Upon completion of deliveries in the base variant, PKP Intercity’s rolling stock will be replenished with:

  • 38 first-class compartment carriages with a separate section without compartments;
  • 40 second-class compartment carriages;
  • 80 second-class open carriages;
  • 38 second-class compartment carriages with spaces for people with limited mobility;
  • 40 second-class open carriages with spaces for bicycle transport;
  • 38 restaurant carriages;
  • 26 day and night carriages, providing comfortable travel during nighttime.

In the event of exercising the option, which involves increasing the order to 450 carriages, each of the aforementioned categories of rolling stock will be expanded by additional units – from 13 to 40 units.

The new carriages will accelerate up to 200 km/h.
