PKP has begun designing a new railway line
28.03.2024
In Poland, the process of designing a new railway line between Krakow and Myslenice has started, which is part of the railway infrastructure development program, Kolej Plus, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Poland’s railway operator, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK), has signed a contract worth 22 million zlotys with a consortium of Polish companies BBF and IDOM Inżynieria, Architektura i Doradztwo for the design of this line.
A railway route has been launched between Shijiazhuang and Belgrade
The project involves creating a new railway line approximately 22 kilometers long, including two tunnel sections and several bridge structures.
It will provide more convenient and faster transportation between Krakow and Myslenice, reducing travel time to 40 minutes at speeds of up to 120 km/h.
The line will have six intermediate stops, serving around 72,000 people.
This project is just a part of the extensive Kolej Plus program, which also includes the construction of two other railway lines: from Krakow to Niepolomice and Olkusz.
The total cost of the program is around 13.2 billion zlotys, with the majority of funding coming from the state budget.
The program covers 34 cities with populations of over 10,000 people, where residents currently either lack access to railway services or existing connections do not meet modern requirements.
Thanks to this program, approximately 1.5 million people will have improved access to railway infrastructure.
