PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” and State Enterprise “Moldovan Railway” have signed a memorandum for the implementation of a project to restore the railway corridor Valchinete – Ocnita – Balti – Ungheni – Chisinau – Cainari

This railway section, spanning over 400 km, passes through the territory of Moldova, as reported by the railway journal Railway Supply, citing Ukrzaliznytsia.

The project has been developed by Moldovan railway specialists as part of the “Paths of Solidarity” initiative, supported by the European Commission, which aims to develop alternative logistics routes, particularly for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.

The project will be implemented using funds from partners and international financial institutions, which will allocate 32 million euros to the Republic of Moldova.

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.

“Ukrainian and Moldovan railway workers already have successful experience of cooperation in infrastructure projects. For example, within the framework of the Berezino-Besarabyaska restoration project, our railway workers assisted their colleagues from Moldova in rebuilding their part of the section. Moreover, the work was completed in record time. The signing of the memorandum is a continuation of our cooperation, which will expand the logistical possibilities between the countries and increase export potential. This is also the first example of implementing a major joint project between partner countries financed by international institutions,” noted the Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” Yevhen Kravtsov.
