The precinct now offers a basketball half-court, an open-air gym, and newly created pedestrian and cycling paths, providing ample opportunities for locals to stay fit. Additionally, over 100,000 trees, shrubs, and grasses have been planted to enhance the area’s natural beauty and support environmental sustainability.

Sustainable Landscaping at Parkdale Station

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Parkdale Station’s landscaping incorporates repurposed materials. Logs from fallen trees serve as seating, habitat logs provide shelter for local fauna, and stepping stones encourage children’s play. These eco-friendly initiatives promote environmental responsibility while contributing to the station’s overall aesthetic.

The station, along with its elevated rail bridge, opened last August as part of the broader project to remove dangerous level crossings on Parkers and Warrigal Roads. By 2029, all 27 level crossings along the Frankston Line will be removed, making the area boom-gate free and improving commuter safety.
