ORLEN Unipetrol Expands Vectron Locomotive Fleet for International Freight Routes

ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava actively expands its Vectron locomotive fleet, strengthening its market position. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The Czech rail freight operator recently added its eighth Siemens Vectron MS locomotive to its fleet.

The new Vectron locomotives are primarily intended for international routes connecting the Czech Republic with Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary, which strengthens the company’s market presence.
The fleet modernization is being carried out to achieve ORLEN Unipetrol’s environmental goals, including a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030. The company also aims to achieve full carbon neutrality by 2050, which has become a major objective for ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava. Since the modernization began in 2017, ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava has invested significant funds into updating its fleet to bolster its position in the Czech freight market.
The Vectron locomotives are equipped with ETCS, GSM-R, and remote diagnostics, which significantly improves operational safety and reliability. These technological enhancements allow the company to provide stable service to clients and maintain a high level of service quality. By the end of next year, the company plans to acquire three additional Vectron locomotives to further strengthen its fleet.
