Funding and Project Timeline
The development will be backed by a €545 million loan from the German KfW bank. The building phase, to be rolled out over 168 weeks (3.2 years), is aimed at a seamless application.
The maintenance is being contracted out for a period of 17 years which includes 2 years of defect resolution. This is an investment project in Mumbai’s pubic transportation for the long run.
Train Delivery Schedule
There should also be a phased delivery of the trainsets in order that there is a steady progress. The lead prototype train will arrive within a year of contract award. The second set of nine trains will come in 1 year, 4 months. The third 10 will be handed over in 1 year and 8 months.
The second batch of 10 trains will be delivered in two years, boosting service capability. The remaining nine trains will bring the project to an end in 2 years and 2 months.
