Monopolization of the grain railway transportation market

The Antimonopoly Authority has suspected “Astyk Trans” of monopolizing the grain railway transportation market in Kazakhstan.

The monopolization of the grain railway transportation market in Kazakhstan is attributed to the privatization of assets from the Kazakhstan Railways.

The agency notes that the market share of the railway company “Astyk Trans” in the transportation and forwarding services for grain-carrying wagons in Kazakhstan increased from 53% in 2022 to 89.5% in 2023.

Currently, the fleet of “Astyk Trans” consists of 10.5 thousand grain-carrying wagons, as specified by the antimonopoly agency.
