A new 106 km high-speed train (YHT) line has been put into operation, connecting the cities of Mengzi and Mile in China’s southwestern province of Yunnan. The new rail line, designed for a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour, has reduced travel time between Mengzi and the provincial capital Kunming to 69 minutes. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Railly News.

The construction of this high-speed rail line began in June 2018. During this process, a total of 52 bridges and ten tunnels were built to overcome the complex geological structure of the region.

More than 350 gondola cars, mineral wagons and cement wagons with grain got stuck on the border with Poland

This railway line is an important part of the railway network between China’s southwest region and the ASEAN countries. It will play a positive role in accelerating the process of urbanization of rural ethnic areas along the line, said the Deputy Director of the Department of Passenger Transportation.
