The railway container terminal “Dostyk Trans Terminal,” located on the border between Kazakhstan and China, has significantly expanded its capacity, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

A New Phase in Logistics on the Border with China

Over the past three years, its throughput capacity has doubled, reaching 320,000 TEU per year.

This growth was achieved by increasing the terminal’s area from 27,000 square meters in 2021 to 70,000 square meters in 2024.

Today, “Dostyk Trans Terminal” can simultaneously store over 2,000 containers, which significantly accelerates cargo handling processes.

The increased capacity has allowed the terminal to reduce waiting times for containers undergoing transit documentation or customs clearance.

Thus, the terminal plays a key role in the logistics chain between China and Kazakhstan, ensuring a smooth flow of goods.

The terminal modernization project attracted significant private investments. About 26.2 billion tenge (approximately $54.7 million) was invested in its development.

These investments have not only expanded the terminal’s area and capacity but also introduced new technologies to improve logistics operations.

In particular, the implementation of modern cargo flow management systems has optimized the container handling process and increased efficiency.

With the increase in cargo volumes through the terminal, “Dostyk Trans Terminal” is strengthening its position as a strategically important hub in the international freight market.

The terminal plays a crucial role in developing trade relations between Kazakhstan and China, contributing to the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries. Its high capacity and modern technologies make it a key infrastructure facility for the entire region.

Therefore, the terminal’s expansion is an important step in developing Kazakhstan’s transport infrastructure and the region as a whole.

The increase in handling capacity and the introduction of new technologies demonstrate Kazakhstan’s serious intentions to strengthen its position in international trade and logistics.
