RFI (part of FS Group) has completed another major phase of the national ETCS deployment program, covering 21 sections of track totaling 1,400 kilometers.

The project is financed by the European Union under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with total investments reaching €2.5 billion.

By June 2026, Italy aims to upgrade approximately 2,800 kilometers of railway infrastructure. This will boost operational safety, reduce train intervals, and align the network with European interoperability standards.
