As construction of the Melbourne Intermodal Terminal nears completion, the Intermodal Terminal Company has appointed Andrew Adam as its new non-executive director to guide its next strategic phase. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Adam offers over 30 years of executive leadership across national and global logistics, including roles at DP World Australia and Pacific National. He also served on the board of NSW Ports.

Chairman John Fullerton stated that Adam’s appointment comes at a critical juncture as the Intermodal Terminal Company prepares to shift from construction to operations. His industry expertise and network will be essential in launching port shuttle and interstate services.
CEO Mishkel Maharaj emphasized that Adam brings valuable insight as the company transitions to full-scale operations. He called Adam a key figure in implementing efficient logistics strategies for the facility.
Interest in the Melbourne Intermodal Terminal continues to grow, especially from leading freight operators and logistics firms attracted by its co-location options at the Melbourne Intermodal & Industrial Exchange (MIIX).
Intermodal Terminal Company Drives $1.6 Billion Supply Chain Investment
The combined development of MIT and MIIX represents a $1.6 billion investment by Aware Super, Aware Real Estate, and Barings. It’s considered the most significant logistics infrastructure initiative in Victoria in decades.
Adam shared his enthusiasm for joining a project that will boost the productivity and reliability of national supply chains. He highlighted the seamless connectivity to the Port of Melbourne via ARTC’s standard gauge network and Hume Freeway.
He noted that this integrated model provides supply chain users with cutting-edge services, energy-efficient operations, and cost-effective warehousing. Adam said it sets a new benchmark for logistics innovation in Australia.
