Utility Surveys and Environmental Testing by Inland Rail

Utility assessments now cover both public and private land, targeting Telstra and NextGen sites. The results will support early-stage design and identify infrastructure needing protection, relocation, or removal.

Contractor MinStaff aims to complete these investigations by the end of August. At the same time, erosion control sampling is complete, and hydrologists are analyzing water flows to shape drainage planning.

In mid-June, all floor level surveys near properties were finalized. These measurements will feed Inland Rail’s flood modeling and enhance understanding of risk near homes and structures.

Inland Rail Appoints Designers and Meets Local Council

Arcadis BG&E Joint Venture has been selected to advance Phase 2 design. The firm will refine the reference concept from the Environmental Impact Statement and integrate recent field data into its work.

Engineers visited the site last week and met with Moree Plains Shire Council to provide updates. Inland Rail confirmed it will continue working closely with local authorities and affected landowners throughout the design process.

This phase forms part of the broader 1,600-kilometre freight route connecting Melbourne and Brisbane through rural hubs in Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland.

The Inland Rail program will deliver long-term economic benefits by enhancing freight efficiency, regional access, and infrastructure resilience across eastern Australia.
