BEML has proposed the lowest bid in the tender for the supply of 12 six-car trains for Bangalore Metro Line 2, according to the Railway Supply journal citing BEML.

The manufacturer stated a production cost of INR 106 million ($1.3 million) per train, while Alstom estimated it at INR 143 million ($1.7 million).

The tender was announced in April last year as an alternative in case CRRC fails to deliver the trains on time.

Previously, CRRC had faced localization issues in the country.
