Hyundai Rotem: KTCS‑2 Train Management System Launched

The KTCS‑2 train management system has been successfully launched on the Jeolla line in the Republic of Korea, utilizing data transmission via LTE‑R radio channel. Developed by Hyundai Rotem, it is based on the European ETCS Level 2 system, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The 180 km high-speed line supports train speeds up to 230 km/h.
A new railway border crossing point is planned to be opened on the Kazakhstan-China border
Signed in late 2020, the KTCS‑2 system increases the line’s capacity by 20% and supports train automatic operation at GoA2 level.
Hyundai Rotem is also developing the KTCS‑3 system, aiming to determine train location without relying on rail chains, with plans to complete the development by the end of 2024.
