Hyundai Rotem and Downer Rail Unveil Train Model for Australia: What to Expect from Future Trains

A model of the new train from Hyundai Rotem and Downer Rail was presented in Brisbane, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The demonstration covered both the interior and the control cabin.

Future drivers and passengers will be able to review the design and provide feedback on ergonomics. Each train will include 20 spaces for passengers with limited mobility and 4 spaces for bicycles.
A contract for the supply of 65 six-car electric trains was signed in the summer of 2023.
This is the first step in the national program to revive railway manufacturing in Australia.
The Korean company Hyundai Rotem is responsible for the design, procurement of components, technology transfer for local production, and warranty maintenance.
The local company Downer Rail will handle the production of the trains, the construction of the manufacturing facility in Queensland, and the creation of the depot.
The new fleet of trains is expected to be operational by the 2032 Olympic Games.
