Hydrogen Fueling Stations for Locomotives Opened by CPKC in Canada

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) has opened two hydrogen fueling stations for locomotives in Canada. These stations, located in Calgary and Edmonton, aim to replace diesel fuel with hydrogen. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Modern Hydrogen Fueling Stations for Locomotives
Each station is equipped with cutting-edge technology for hydrogen generation, compression, and storage. They feature 1 MW electrolyzers, which produce hydrogen directly on-site. The Calgary station operates using solar energy from CPKC’s 5 MW solar power plant.
CPKC’s Innovations in Hydrogen Fueling Stations for Locomotives
This project was completed in collaboration with ATCO EnPower, which provided engineering services and handled construction. Additionally, ATCO EnPower will operate these facilities to ensure their smooth and efficient functioning.
