Home Delivery for Lost Items Now Available in Hong Kong
29.07.2025
Passengers in Hong Kong can now receive lost public transport items at home, thanks to a new delivery service launched by MTR Corporation in partnership with SF Express (Hong Kong). This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The initiative responds to a growing need for convenience in a city where over five million people ride MTR trains and buses each day. Every month, more than 12,000 items are left behind, and around 8,300 passengers submit recovery requests.

Most forgotten items include Octopus cards, shopping bags, umbrellas, and seasonal accessories. Until now, people had to collect such belongings in person at the lost and found office, which often led to delays or abandoned claims.

Hong Kong transport operator launches digital recovery option
The new Hong Kong service allows passengers to report lost items through an official mobile app. If staff locate the item, they contact the passenger to confirm the delivery address.
Delivery is handled by SF Express (Hong Kong), and the recipient pays the shipping fee upon receiving the item. This digital-first solution eliminates the need to visit the office for non-valuable possessions.
But the system excludes high-value items like electronics and jewelry. These must still be picked up in person to ensure proper identification and secure handling.
Hong Kong commuters benefit from more accessible service
By integrating mobile reporting and courier services, Hong Kong is simplifying an inconvenient but common experience. The model aligns with broader trends in urban mobility, where convenience and contactless solutions are essential.
MTR Corporation’s move demonstrates a commitment to service innovation and customer-centric policies. And because the new system is easy to use, it may increase the number of reported items, reducing overall losses.
This partnership between public transit and private logistics also signals how smart transport systems are evolving. Through practical digital tools and streamlined communication, Hong Kong sets a strong example for urban transit modernization.
