The locomotives, built by Clayton Equipment, will be used for shunting work on the railways in the UK.

Each locomotive has four axles and is designed to handle freight trains that deliver materials and equipment to work sites for the infrastructure operator Network Rail.

These hybrid locomotives are equipped with diesel engines that meet European Stage V emission standards.

Additionally, they feature traction batteries that are charged either from a stationary power source while at rest or through regenerative braking.

It is worth noting that in April 2022, GB Railfreight and Beacon Rail ordered 30 hybrid mainline locomotives of the EURODUAL series from Stadler.

These locomotives will operate both from overhead lines and on diesel fuel and are expected to enter service starting in 2025.
