Construction began in Luddenham, a suburb in the city’s growing western corridor. Workers will now continue placing over 100 km of steel track along the 23-kilometre route between St Marys Station and Bradfield.

Bradfield is expected to become a major industrial center, and the Western Sydney Airport Metro will directly link it to the region’s wider transport network. This line will support population growth and economic development across Greater Western Sydney.

Webuild leads the Parklife Metro consortium with a 78% stake, overseeing construction of six stations and all associated systems. The company will also deliver the entire metro infrastructure as part of the SSTOM (Stations, Systems, Trains, Operations, and Maintenance) contract.

The project, valued at $2.54 billion USD, stands as the largest public-private partnership in the history of New South Wales. Webuild also owns 10% of the operating company that will maintain the line for 15 years.

Western Sydney Airport Metro to Connect Growth Zones

This high-capacity metro line will serve as the backbone of transportation for one of Australia’s fastest-growing areas. It will offer rapid access between residential communities and the future Western Sydney International Airport.

The project reflects a joint investment from the federal and New South Wales governments. It reinforces long-term plans for integrated regional development and green mobility solutions.

Integration with Wider Sydney Metro Network

Once operational, the new airport line will seamlessly join the larger Sydney Metro system. It will provide efficient transit options to areas undergoing major transformation, supporting economic activity and reducing road congestion.

The Western Sydney Airport Metro stands as a flagship project in the region’s infrastructure portfolio. It combines smart mobility, public-private cooperation, and urban development under one ambitious vision.
