In its first sustainability report, Eurostar highlights the achievements it has already made in this direction.
In particular, the company has achieved the use of wind energy for 100% of its needs in the Netherlands, and also has a 40% share of renewable energy in the UK.
A signed memorandum of understanding with Infrabel paves the way for exploring new solar projects in Belgium, continuing the theme of an ambitious transition to clean energy.
Eurostar’s collaboration with local railway infrastructure partners and joining the RE100 initiative are important steps towards achieving the set goal.
This not only demonstrates the company’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also sets a precedent for other industry players.
However, Eurostar’s strategy is not limited to the use of renewable energy sources.
The report also emphasizes the importance of integrating a closed-loop system into the value chain to minimize waste and optimize resources.
This is an additional step towards reducing the ecological footprint and ensuring the company’s more sustainable operations.
