Deterioration of traction rolling stock in the locomotive facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia is 96.91%.

The company added that 519 overrun locomotives are in need of major repairs. At the same time, it is planned to overhaul 124 locomotives in 2022.

The total number of locomotives beyond repair is more than 170 units.

In addition, as of February 1, 2022, there are 39 146 wagons in the non-working fleet of Ukrzaliznytsia freight cars, 12 791 of which are in need of repair, and 25 411 units are undergoing technical inspection, after which an additional extension period will be determined due to scheduled repairs.

The average wear rate of freight cars is 89.06%. 28 364 of the 83 787 wagons owned by UZ have expired their extended service life, 944 wagons have technical solutions for excluding the freight wagon fleet from the automated data bank.

“In order to systematically update the fleet of Ukrzaliznytsia freight cars during 2022-2031, the issue of replenishing the company’s freight car fleet with new gondola cars and grain carriers in the amount of about 24 000 units is being considered,” the company noted.
