CRRC Unveils Driverless Metro Train for Xiamen: Innovative Technologies and Automation

CRRC has introduced its latest driverless metro train for Xiamen, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This four-car train will serve Line 6 of the city’s metro system, which spans 9.8 km and includes 7 stations. The development of the train took nearly two years.

The train’s body is made from lightweight aluminum alloy, and the control panel is constructed from carbon fiber.
The train can reach a maximum speed of 80 km/h and accommodates 826 passengers.
It is equipped with a GoA4 level automatic driving system.
This system automates 50 functions, including automatic start-up and departure from the depot.
Each bogie is fitted with a sensor array to monitor the condition of wheelsets and infrastructure, measuring impacts, vibrations, and temperature.
Additionally, the train includes obstacle detection systems and monitoring for potential derailments.
Electric braking technology is also employed, which, according to CRRC, offers more precise and smoother braking compared to traditional electropneumatic systems.
