CRRC Invests in the Brazilian Market

Earlier in 2024, it was announced that investments in the project could reach $1 billion, contributing to local infrastructure development. At the beginning of the year, CRRC won a contract to supply 44 trains for the São Paulo metro. According to the contract terms, the assembly of the rolling stock must take place within the state, ensuring job creation.

Additionally, the company will produce 15 intercity and 7 suburban trains for the São Paulo – Campinas route. Contracts also include manufacturing 24 trains for the Belo Horizonte metro and passenger cars for the mining company Vale. The Chinese manufacturer has previously supplied electric trains to Brazilian operators.

Why is CRRC Choosing Brazil?

Brazil is already home to manufacturing plants from local company Marcopolo, as well as global producers such as Alstom, Wabtec, CAF, Hyundai Rotem, and Progress Rail.

Entering this market, CRRC aims to offer innovative technologies and competitive solutions. A final decision on the production site is expected in the coming months.
