SA-3 Coupling (Drawing 518.01.000-8 SB)
The upgraded or reinforced SA-3 Coupling according to project 518 (Drawing Number 518.01.000-8 SB) is used in railway transport. This coupling is compatible with the standard SA-3 Coupling 106.01.001-00/05, but they are not interchangeable.

SA-3 Locomotive Coupling (Steam locomotive type)
The SA-3 Locomotive Coupling (Steam locomotive type) is designed for automatic coupling of railway rolling stock, transmission of longitudinal forces generated during train movement and stopping, as well as during shunting operations. It provides automatic coupling of rolling stock in case of impact, automatic return of the coupling mechanism components to the ready position after separating the rolling stock, and the ability to operate “on the buffer” when coupling is not necessary upon impact.
