Spanning 171 kilometers, the railway connects the Beijing-Kunming and Baotou-Haikou corridors. Upon completion, it will reduce travel time between Xi’an and Ankang from three hours to under one hour.

Technological Breakthroughs in the Construction of Two More High-Speed Railways

The Xi’an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway achieved a significant milestone with the completion of the Tianzhushan No. 2 tunnel. This 4,118-meter tunnel presented complex engineering challenges, addressed using advanced technology.

This railway, spanning 256 kilometers, will cut travel time between Xi’an and Shiyan to under one hour. It also halves the travel time from Xi’an to Wuhan, improving regional accessibility.

Additional Progress and Innovations

China’s high-speed railway network continues expanding. The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-Speed Railway, operational since December, links Shanghai to Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, enhancing Yangtze River Delta connectivity.

Meanwhile, the CR450 bullet train, tested at 450 km per hour, exemplifies China’s commitment to innovation. This prototype sets new benchmarks for speed and efficiency in rail travel.

The construction of two more high-speed railways underscores China’s strategic efforts to modernize its transportation system. By reducing travel times and fostering economic development, these projects strengthen regional ties and drive growth.
