Siemens Mobility has delivered another multisystem locomotive Vectron to Cargounit, marking the 200th locomotive for Cargounit, to be leased and used by DB Cargo Poland, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
Since 2018, the company has already procured 42 vehicles from Siemens, including 36 Vectron locomotives and six Smartron locomotives.
The modern Vectron MS locomotives are pivotal in handling a wide range of transportation tasks across Europe and fostering substantial growth in the intermodal segment.

Vectrons are the most advanced universal locomotives in the European market with a modular design, enabling easy adaptation to usage requirements and specific operational characteristics in different countries.
Their development was fundamentally driven by efficiency and cost-effectiveness for both domestic and international passenger and freight transport in Europe.
Acquiring the 200th locomotive marks Cargounit’s 20th anniversary and features a unique design emphasizing the company’s contribution to the development of Poland and Central Europe’s railway industry.
“The locomotive’s graphic design includes landmarks characteristic of Wrocław, Cargounit’s headquarters, and buildings typical of the Three Seas region capitals, where our locomotives are already in operation or where we have ambitions to support the transformation towards eco-friendly rail transport in the future,” said Łukasz Boroń, CEO of Cargounit.
The locomotive, showcased at the International Railway Fair Trako in Gdańsk, has an output power of 6.4 MW on alternating current and 6.0 MW on direct current, equipped with an ETCS system in accordance with current specifications (baseline 3).
The locomotive is intended for operation in Poland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Netherlands, Romania, and Bulgaria.
“We look forward to continuing our fruitful cooperation with Cargounit, as evidenced by the addition of another 29 Siemens Vectron MS electric locomotives to our fleet. This new acquisition will enable us to increase the share of rail transport in logistics chains for the benefit of our customers, the environment, and the entire transport market,” said Marek Staszek, CEO of DB Cargo Polska.
