This step includes preparation for competitive procedures and engineering support in subsequent stages.

The consortium includes Italian and Austrian companies such as SWS Engineering, ILF Consulting Engineers Austria, and EUT Engineering.

Construction of the tunnel began in 2008, and its launch is scheduled for 2032.

After completion of the project, passenger trains will be able to travel at speeds of up to 250 km/h, and freight trains at up to 120 km/h, significantly reducing travel time and improving connectivity between the two countries.
