Alstom delivers Turkey’s first locomotive equipped with ETCS Level 1 & 2
As part of a contract between TCDD and Alstom, Turkey’s first locomotive equipped with the ETCS Level 1 and 2 has been delivered by Alstom for operation on Turkey’s coastline.
Alstom announced the transfer of the first of 26 locomotives equipped with European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 1 and 2 under the company’s contract with Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD) for the supply of signaling and telecommunication systems.
The new signaling system will enable TCDD to efficiently and seamlessly manage its rail links along the Eskisehir – Balikesir corridor. In addition, it will increase the capacity of the line.
The Eskişehir-Kütahya-Alayunt-Balıkesir (EKB) project includes a track and board line modernization project for EKB, covering the design, manufacture and supply of the entire track. In addition, Alstom supplies level crossing systems as well as distribution and uninterruptible power supply systems. A GSM-R system is also provided for the project on the Alayunt to Afyon line section.
