Alstom announced the transfer of the first of 26 locomotives equipped with European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 1 and 2 under the company’s contract with Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD) for the supply of signaling and telecommunication systems.

This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to the Global Railway Review.

The new signaling system will enable TCDD to efficiently and seamlessly manage its rail links along the Eskisehir – Balikesir corridor. In addition, it will increase the capacity of the line.

The Eskişehir-Kütahya-Alayunt-Balıkesir (EKB) project includes a track and board line modernization project for EKB, covering the design, manufacture and supply of the entire track. In addition, Alstom supplies level crossing systems as well as distribution and uninterruptible power supply systems. A GSM-R system is also provided for the project on the Alayunt to Afyon line section.
