In the first quarter of 2022, 18.5% less cargo was transported through the Ukrainian railway network than in the corresponding period of 2021.

Ukrzaliznytsia chose suppliers

This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply.

In just three months, more than 56 million tons of cargo were transported.

Domestic transportation decreased most of all in the context of the quarter. They are down by almost a quarter.

Imports and transit also decreased. These types of transportation suffered the most from the Russian invasion that began on February 24 and continues to this day.

Exports fell in less than a quarter. It dropped by 10%.

As previously reported, transit increased by 38.8% in January 2022. In January and February 2022, Ukrzaliznytsia showed positive dynamics in terms of traffic volumes.

The situation changed with the start of a large-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine. Transportation of the mineral construction materials suffered the most because of the war, coal is least of all.
