Despite the ongoing war in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, the closure of borders with Russia and Belarus, as well as the closure of Black Sea ports, PKP LHS transported 11.108 million tons in 2022. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Kurier Kolejowy.

PKP LHS

Exceeding 11 million tons is a record traffic result in the history of PKP LHS. This result was achieved with the smallest share of iron ore transportation so far and the dominance of transportation of other goods, which required much greater financial costs and hard work of the company’s employees, as well as state administration services at the border.

The implementation of such transport has become possible thanks to the intensive investment activity carried out in recent years by PKP LHS. In 2022, the company made a number of investments totaling over PLN 57 million. A very good transport result was also significantly affected by transportation carried out as part of humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
