On June 29, 2021, in Berlin, Deutsche Bahn (DB) presented the DB Supplier Award in four categories for outstanding performance and innovation to partner companies. In addition, the DB Supplier Innovation Award was awarded for the use of special technological innovations.

For the ninth time, DB presents its company prize to its dedicated and efficient suppliers. The DB Supplier Ranking is awarded in the categories of Rail, Infrastructure, General Requirements and Environment. Earlier, 15 nominees were selected in a multi-stage competition, reports Railway Supply magazine with reference to Deutsche Bahn (DB).

Jan Grothe, Director of Procurement (CPO) at DB, stresses: “This year, in addition to outstanding results, the jury also focused on health and supply chain integrity during the pandemic. In such unpredictable situations, reliable partnerships with our leading suppliers are especially important. ”

Together with DB Schenker and DB Arriva, Deutsche Bahn handles annual purchases of over 20 billion euros and maintains business relationships with nearly 20,000 companies worldwide.

MSG Ammendorf Maschinenbau & Service GmbH

MSG GmbH has developed into an important and very reliable partner for DB. The company has extensive experience in the maintenance, repair and refurbishment of electrical and diesel units. MSG is currently servicing the ICE-T fleet and modernizing them for the Berlin S-Bahn.

Infrastructure category:

Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG

The massive Gateway Gardens project at Frankfurt Airport is a prime example of coordinated planning and construction within a given time and budget. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG is responsible for this. A long-term partner of DB, who is also involved in the construction of Stuttgart-Ulm or the second highway in Munich, has proven to be particularly flexible and focused on optimal solutions.

General needs and services category:

Dr. Sasse AG

Sasse Gruppe is an innovative provider of integrated building management services. The family-owned company has been with DB since 2018. The jury won recognition for a partnership characterized by outstanding service. This is monitored, verified and documented in real time, among other things, using a home management app.

Environment category:

RUZ Mineralik GmbH

RUZ Mineralik GmbH received the DB environmental award for sustainable resource management. Longtime partner DB Group provides significant support to Deutsche Bahn in achieving the goal of strengthening the circular economy and recycling in infrastructure. In doing so, the company manages to reduce CO2 emissions from materials handling – up to 80 percent compared to using virgin building materials.

DB Supplier Innovation Award 2020/2021:

LiveEO GmbH

Berlin-based startup LiveEO is supporting DB’s satellite-assisted vegetation care from space. For the first time, a young company provides a complete overview of the vegetation condition on the entire German railway network. The latest technology is used for this!
