Delhi Metro tenders 90 cars for Line-8 extension

Delhi Metro rolling stock tender RS21 is for 90 standard gauge cars. The cars are for the Inderlok–Indraprastha corridor under Phase IV. The project is backed by JICA funding. It also includes long-term maintenance and advanced systems. The aim is to improve connectivity across key Delhi and NCR transit corridors.

The Government of India has secured funding for DMRC’s Phase IV project. The funding comes from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Meanwhile, the proceeds are allocated to contract RS21. Maintenance costs will be borne by DMRC.
The Inderlok–Indraprastha corridor is 12.377 km long. It extends the Green Line. It will have 10 stations. Of the route, 11.349 km will be underground and 1.028 km elevated. At the same time, it will offer seamless interchanges. It will also improve connectivity between Bahadurgarh and central and east Delhi.

The tender covers the design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning of 90 standard gauge cars. The cars are for the Inderlok–Indraprastha corridor. In addition, the package includes long-term maintenance. It also covers training of the employer’s manpower. It includes related depot and testing equipment. The maintenance period is thirty-five years.
