Denmark has received its first high-speed train from the Spanish company Talgo
26.01.2024
The national carrier DSB announced the commencement of dynamic testing for the first set of Talgo 230, consisting of 13 carriages with locomotive traction and designed for speeds up to 200 km/h., this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The next testing phase will include attaching a control carriage without engines, enabling a push-pull operation.
Talgo 230 is claimed to consume 30% less energy compared to industry standards, attributed to its lightweight body and special chassis design.
Moreover, these trains are 95% recyclable.
In February 2020, DSB signed a framework contract with Talgo for approximately €500 million for eight 13-carriage trains.
In April 2023, the carrier exercised an option for an additional 8 trains.
It is anticipated that this year, trains featuring Siemens Mobility’s Vectron electric locomotives will operate on the Copenhagen–Aarhus–Hamburg route.
