Czech Railways has the first drawbridge

Luzhecky railway bridge is the first drawbridge on the Czech railway. The 135-ton axle is lifted by four hydraulic cylinders. The lifting of the bridge is fully automated, informs Railway Supply magazine with reference to Zdopravy.

The entire bridge, 29 meters long, was built on the ruins of the former bridge, where new pillars were built instead of the original stone ones.

According to the Czech Ministry of Infrastructure, the test passed without a hitch. According to the Czechs, they used an oblique rail joint, which should ensure safe disconnection when lifting the bridge, but above all, ensures the safe passage of the train. The aim of the reconstruction of the bridges is to ensure the passage of large ships to Prague.
